The Montana Declaration (Draft Edition - Not Final)
August 2, 2025

In light of the teaching and informal discussion at the 2025 Montana Wild Conference titled “The Eschatology of Genesis,” held in Whitehall, Montana, July 22-25…
Because Genesis Creation issues have been divisive and controversial within the preterist community for many years… For the goal to bring clarity and unity as to the significance and meaning of Genesis Creation for the study of Biblical Eschatology… Looking forward to the future development of Fulfilled Eschatology and informed application to Christian Worldview and Practice from the Preterist view… We, the undersigned designated speakers, along with any who may wish to join us, state the following:
1) God is the maker of all things, visible and invisible, as demonstrated by his power to declare the end from the beginning, work miracles to accomplish His will in the salvation of His people, and preserve His people to be his treasured possession, forever. 2) Genesis is foundational to the biblical narrative and has inescapable implications for biblical eschatology in the person and work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 3) Modern Enlightenment and Scientific concerns have caused many contemporary Christians to focus on Genesis Creation in a cultural context far removed from the original audience and ancient Hebrew mindset of the book of Genesis.
4) Culture Wars do not dictate the original meaning, message and significance of Genesis Creation. To make political agenda and partisan ideology the main use for Genesis Creation as a cultural goal is to engage in exegetical relativism and theological chrono-centrism.
5) Genesis Creation was not revealed for the purpose to inform God’s people with an explanation regarding scientific question such as modern geology, dinosaurs or the age and destiny of what we moderns call "planet Earth."
6) The meaning of Genesis Creation can be ascertained by how the authors of Scripture, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, interpret and apply Genesis creation for God’s people.
7) The Spirit, over time, guides believers to re-examine Genesis (and all Scripture) when misapplied for ideological, cultural or political purposes, restoring their focus on the gospel and covenant context fulfillment in Christ.
8) The future of the Kingdom of God continues to be bright because Genesis is true and reveals the Gospel of Jesus Christ, feeding the faith of believers in all times and cultures.
9) It is necessary in our modern materialistic, post-Enlightenment age to re-center Genesis in its proper gospel context, covenant history context, and typological nature with prophetic function.
10) The fulfillment of the Eschatology of Genesis makes the opening book of the Bible relevant in all times and in all places (unlike scientific development over time) to instruct in godliness, holiness, and holy worship of the One true God revealed in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Therefore…
We declare that this framework should guide future preterist development:
Genesis Creation has an eschatology that is fulfilled in the coming and finished work of Jesus Christ and His New Covenant People of God!
